The Pain, Process and Progress of Writing The Divine Original Man
A personal reflection on the pain, process and progress of writing The Divine Original Man — and how God remained faithful through every page.
There are books we choose to write, and there are books that seem to choose us.
My last book, The Power of Vision, did very well. So much so that it warranted a sequel, which I was already working on. Then I felt this strong urge. The Divine Original Man began as a burden in my heart, a growing conviction that many men are searching for identity, purpose and direction in places that can never fully satisfy them. I felt drawn back to the beginning, before culture defined manhood, before failure distorted it and before performance became the measure of a man.
It started as a simple but profound question:
What did God originally intend when He created man?
What began as a question soon became a journey.
The Pain
Writing this book has required more from me than I expected.
There were seasons of uncertainty, mental exhaustion and personal wrestling. Some pages forced me to confront my own assumptions about identity, responsibility, family, work, leadership and faith. At times, I had to stop writing and allow the message to work within me first.
It is difficult to write honestly about restoration without acknowledging brokenness. It is difficult to write about purpose without confronting distraction. It is almost impossible to write about responsibility without examining the places where you have fallen short.
The book was not formed only through study. It was also shaped through prayer, reflection, correction and surrender.
The Process
The research process has been extensive and deeply rewarding.
I have spent countless hours studying Scripture, examining the language and world of Genesis in its original Hebrew form, engaging theological and historical scholarship, reviewing contemporary research, and carefully considering the realities men and families face today. The statistics are staggering, yet the truth in God’s Word shines through.
Every chapter has gone through multiple stages of research, writing, review, refinement and verification. Ideas have been tested. Words have been reconsidered. Entire sections have been rewritten to ensure that the message remains biblically faithful, intellectually responsible, pastorally sensitive and accessible to everyday readers.
This has been relentless work, but it has also been sacred work.
Again and again, I have been reminded that the first man did not begin with achievement. He began by receiving life from God.
Identity came before performance.
Communion came before dominion.
Responsibility came before authority.
These truths have not only shaped the book. They have reshaped me.
The Progress
Today, The Divine Original Man is becoming more than an idea.
Page by page, chapter by chapter, the message is taking its final form. What once existed as scattered notes, prayers, questions and convictions is becoming a carefully developed book designed to help men rediscover who they are, whose they are and how they were created to live.
The journey is not yet complete, but I am grateful for how far God has carried me.
He has given strength when the work felt overwhelming, clarity when the path seemed uncertain and grace when progress felt slower than I wanted. Every completed page is a reminder that faithfulness is often built through quiet, repeated obedience.
My prayer is that this book will help men move beyond the pressure to prove themselves and return to the identity, communion, responsibility and purpose God intended from the beginning.
The pain has deepened the message.
The process has strengthened it.
The progress has encouraged me.
And through every page, God has remained faithful.
This is only the beginning.
Welcome to the journey of The Divine Original Man.
